The Embassy of the Republic of Slovenia in Sarajevo, in cooperation with the Organization of Amputees UDAS Banja Luka, organized the promotion of a 3D model of the Kranjska bee, which aims to point out the importance of the role of bees as the most important pollinators, and how they significantly contribute to mitigating climate change and preserving the environment.
Beekeeping is also an excellent activity that can empower vulnerable social groups, especially mine victims and other disabled people, while establishing a stable income and improving their quality of life. By engaging in beekeeping, in addition to the income they can generate, it helps people with disabilities in rehabilitation from the traumatic injury of losing an extremity.
The organization UDAS Banja Luka, as part of the economic support program, supports small businesses of mine victims every year, including small businesses in beekeeping because this type of business has proven to be successful in the recovery of mine victims and generating income for the family.
Director of the Bosnia and Herzegovina Mine Action Center, Saša Obradović once again emphasized the importance of supporting activities to help mine victims, as one of the most important pillars of mine action in our country.
During 2021 and 2022, the organization of amputees UDAS in partnership with ITF Enhancing Human Security Slovenia and the Beekeeping Academy from Slovenia with the support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Slovenia, implemented the project "Beekeeping as a tool in empowering mine victims in BiH, which aimed to empower beekeepers, mine victims, people with disabilities from Bosnia and Herzegovina, with knowledge that will help improve the efficiency, effectiveness and profitability of beekeeping activities in the future.
