Two terrain vehicles donated as part of the Majevica free of mines project

OSCE Chairman Minister of Foreign Affairs of Norther Macedonia Bujar Osmani, handed over two terrain vehicles to Saša Obradović, director of the Bosnia and Herzegovina Mine Action Center.

Two Nissan X Trail vehicles, will be used for the demining process of five municipalities in the area of Majevica region, a project financed by the Government of Germany.

Majevica is one of the few places in Bosnia and Herzegovina, where communities take concrete steps towards reconciliation. Thanks to the OSCE Mission's support in promoting cooperation between municipalities, the mayors of five municipalities in the Majevica region, showed that they are true leaders and took a step forward in order to unite their forces with partners on the other side of the former front line, in the interest of the residents of their communities.

Director of BH MAC Saša Obradović expressed its gratitude for the donation, adding that these two vehicles represents significant enhancement to the material and technical resources for the staff working inside Tuzla Regional Office and the Pale Regional Office, “and in this way we can more easily and better monitor all tasks in the area of these five municipalities, which is financed by the German Government”.

The Mayor of Sapna Municipality, Zudin Mahmutović, on behalf of the five mayors of the Majevica region, expressed the hope that by 2024 the area of Majevica, will be demined and that the population will be able to walk safely, thus enabling development of tourism in these five municipalities.
