Michael Scanlan, Supervisor for Brčko District, visited BiH Mine Action Center

Michael Scanlan, Supervisor for Brcko, visited the Mine Action Center in BiH and talked with Director Sasa Obradovic about the continuation and finalization of demining in the Brcko District.

Mr. Scanlan praised the work of the Mine Action Center in BiH and our so far achievements in the field of mine action and emphasized the importance and the role of demining in the development of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Mr Obradovic explained that the remaining mine suspected area in the District exceeds 13 km2, and that there are currently 6 MSA tasks in the area of ​​Vučilovac, Krepšić, Gorica, Grbavica, Donji Vukšić, Marković polje, Lanište, Vukšić, Boderište, Donji Rahić, Ulice.
Supervisor Scanlan is more than interested in resolving the mine situation in the District as soon as possible, and will do his best to find the necessary funds to implement these tasks, but also expects the Brcko authorities to be fully engaged in this field.

Demining is certainly one of the priorities and main preconditions in order to implement the reforms necessary for progress in strengthening public services and economic opportunities for the citizens of Brcko District.
