A virtual meeting on the decision-making process about Articles 3 and 4 of the extension requests of the deadline for the removal of cluster munitions

On Monday, February 9, 2021, at the invitation of the Chairman of the 2nd Revision Conference on the Convention on Cluster Munitions Removal, a member states / signatories of this document, who requested an extension of its deadline, including Bosnia and Herzegovina, Peru and Bulgaria, held a meeting, in order clarify the current situation regarding the final approvals of the extension requests. Since, due to the current epidemiological situation, the second part of the planned Review Conference is canceled, and those decisions will be made within a silent process procedures.

The deadline for fulfilling these obligations is March 1, 2021, and according to the new request, Bosnia and Herzegovina has requested an extension until September 1, 2022.
Decisions on the extension requests are expected to be made by the end of February 2021.
