The meeting of the Board of Donors for Mine Action, which is being held after almost five years, gathered today a large number of representatives from various international and domestic organizations and institutions, involved in solving the mine problem in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The meeting was organized by the BiH Ministry of Civil Affairs, with the support of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) in BiH.

Minister of Civil Affairs, Ankica Gudeljevic, pointed out that holding such gatherings is very important, in order to continue clearly coordinated joint efforts of the international community and domestic institutions, in the final elimination of mine risk and creating a safe environment.

Steliana Nedera, UNDP Resident Representative in BiH, the organization that has been supporting mine action structures in BiH for many years, said in her address to the media today, that UNDP remains committed to supporting mine action structures in BiH in the digitalization and capacity building process.

Sasa Obradovic, Director of the Mine Action Center in BiH, emphasized today that thanks to the dedicated work of deminers and other operational staff, extraordinary results have been achieved in the previous period .
Over 3200 km2 of mine risk area has been returned for safe use to the population and economic subjects.

All results that have been achieved so far would not be possible without the trust and support of the international community.

Once again, donors were kindly asked to continue to monitor and support the implementation of tasks from economic and security risk.

At the same time, the mine action process must not continue to depend exclusively on the international community and donors, and the inflow of domestic funds need to be intensified in the coming period.

The next meeting of the Donor Board is planned for the end of 2022.
